Abstract

493,218. Universal joints. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and WALDRON. T. A. May 22,1937, No. 14277. [Class 80 (ii)] Axially - separated shaft-discs 11, 15 are drivingly connected by rubber rings 18, partly enclosed in casings 20, mounted on bolts 12, which are secured to one disc 11 and pass through clearance-holes 16 in the other. Nuts 21 draw the casings together to subject the rubber rings to sufficient axial pressure to transmit drive without any vulcanization being necessary. The clearance holes 16 may have rubber or fibre bushings, as shown.
