Abstract

493,794. Universal joints. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and WALDRON, T. A. May 22, 1937, No. 14274. [Class 80 (ii)] In a universal joint, particularly for motor vehicles, of the kind comprising driving and driven pins arranged in a circle with their axes substantially parallel to the main axis of the coupling and with the pins of one set alternating with those of the other, ball members 13 carried by the pins 11 are received in enlarged portions 16 of a rubber or like flexible ring 15 reinforced by a casing 17, 18. The balls may have peripheral grooves 20 into which the rubber enters. The ring 15 is of circular cross-section between the portions 16. Specification 321,351, [Class 80 (ii)], is referred to.
