Abstract

879,493. Universal joints. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Oct. 30, 1959 [Dec. 1, 1958], No. 36552(59. Class 80 (2). In a universal joint of the kind described in Specification 781,693 wherein hubs 11, 12 on aligned shafts 13, 14 have axial grooves 18 engaged by flexible rubber teeth 17 bonded on a flexible coupling sleeve 15 of laminated fabric, the teeth 17 have a total included tooth angle B of between 35 and 50 degrees and preferably between 40 and 45 degrees. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the ends of the ribs between the grooves on the hubs are tapered or rounded.
