Abstract
494,978. Universal joints. HARDY, SPICER, & CO., Ltd., and GREEN, T. F. May 22, 1937, No. 14272. [Class 80 (ii)] In a flexible transmission coupling consisting of three coaxial discs 11, 12 spaced apart by two flexible discs or rings, the two non-adjacent discs 11 have flanges 23 which extend inwardly into the flexible discs and carry pins 21 which pass through clearance holes in the intermediate disc 12. The latter disc, in turn, has flanges 13 which extend outwardly into the flexible discs and carry pins 16 which project through clearance holes 14 in the discs 11. One of the sets of pins 16, 21 is attached to the driving member and the other to the driven. Bushes 15, 22 may be placed around the pins 16, 21. The flexible discs may be attached to one another by an adhesive or by vulcanization through the clearance space between the bolts 21 and the disc 12.
