Abstract

459,325. Flexible couplings. ROPER & WREAKS, Ltd., and HEARD, P., 112, Arundel Street, Sheffield. Nov. 23, 1935, No. 32517. [Class 80 (ii)] In a flexible coupling for a clutch plate as described in Specification 417,629, comprising a number of resilient members, each consisting of a rubber cylinder 3 encircled by a horseshoe spring 2, supported in recesses in an outer member and engaged between radial arms 6 on the inner member, diametrically - opposite resilient members are replaced by aluminium blocks 4 which are recessed on both sides so as to limit the relative movement. The recess 5 on one side is deeper than the recess 8 on the other side, whereby greater relative movement is possible during recoil than during drive.
