168,016. Sangster, J. Y. May 19, 1921. Universal couplings. - Flexible joints for coupling driving and driven shafts, of the kind in which a disc or ring of flexible material is employed are provided with means which allow relative sliding axial movement of the shafts without flexing the disc. The flexible disc a is connected to the driving shaft c through a spider band studs b<1>, and to the driven shaft e through bolts d<1> and a spider d. The studs b<1> can slide in bushes f secured to the disc a and so permit axial movement of the shaft c, which may be the main clutch shaft, without flexing the disc.
