Abstract

390,420. Clutches. BOSCH AKT.- GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Sept. 23, 1932, No. 26453. Convention date, Oct. 2, 1931. [Class 80 (ii).] A coupling, more particularly for driving apparatus connected by gearing with internalcombustion engines, comprises the series arrangement of a resilient coupling 6 with a friction plate-clutch of the self-tightening and overload-release type, such as that described in Specification 366,300 wherein a torqueresponsive nut 11 effects a self-tightening of the clutch plates 12, 14 and also has endprojections 22 which, on excessive movement of the nut in the tightening direction, abut against the annular spring presser-plate 19 of the clutch to reduce the pressure on the clutch plates and protect the driven member, e.g. a dynamo, from overload shocks. The nut 11 is mounted on a threaded sleeve 8 integral with the driven three-armed spider 10, which is bolted to the flexible disc 6 of the resilient joint. The spring plate 19 acts on the clutch plates through a presser-plate 18, and the clutch allows overrunning of the driven member. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the application of the coupling to motor-vehicles. This reference does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
