Clutches, friction. - A centrifugally-engaged multiple-disc clutch comprises friction-faced discs 2 peripherally engaging pins 3 on the driving-flywheel 1, discs 5 splined to a driven member 6, and a presserplate 8, also slidable on the pins 3 and connected to the flywheel by pairs of links 9, 12, jointed together at 11 and enlarged to form the centrifugal masses. The clutch may be used on small locomotives and heavy motor tractors, and, if combined with an auxiliary powerful disc clutch or claw clutch for use when speed-changing may be employed on all high-powered motor-vehicles for obviating starting shocks.
