Abstract

398,434. Friction clutches. SCHUTTE, A. H., 76, Rheinallee, Cologne, Germany. March 25, 1933, No. 9064. Convention date, April 16, 1932. [Class 80 (ii).] In a multiplate friction clutch operated by pivoted fingers q actuated by a conical-ended sliding collar s, two thrust rings t, u with spherical contacting surfaces are arranged between the plates and the fingers q, so that the ring u, which abuts against the plates, can tilt to correspond to any lack of parallelism in the plates.. The outer plates f are splined in a member d keyed to a driving gear b, while the inner plates o are splined on a sleeve m keyed to the driven shaft g, floating plates v being arranged between the plates f, o. The rings t, u are also splined on the sleeve m, the ring u having considerable play. The ring p carrying the fingers q is threaded on the sleeve m, being secured in adjusted position by a spring pin r engaging one of a number of holes in the ring t.
