[Class 20 (iv)] A reinforced-concrete floor or the like comprises joists 1 having the lower flanges 2 encased in concrete blocks 3 which are provided on the upper surface thereof with gaps 5 adapted to receive and locate the ends of transverse wood furring strips 6 engaging the corrugations 9 of metal shuttering sheets 10 on which the concrete 14 is cast as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Alternatively, the corrugated sheets 10 may be so arranged that the corrugations 9 thereof fit into the gaps 5 of the blocks 3 so as to render unnecessary the strips 6. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the gaps 5, which are spaced equidistantly along the side edges of the blocks 3, are adapted to be engaged by end tongues 7 on the strips 6 ; the strips 6 may project above the upper surfaces of the blocks 3 to substantially the same extent as the depth of the gaps 5, and the transverse corrugations 9 of the metal sheets 10 are dimensioned so that the upper portions of the strips 6 are accommodated within the corrugations 9 and the marginal edges 11 of the sheets rest upon the upper surfaces of the blocks. The concrete 14 is cast upon the sheets 10 so as to enclose the upper portions of the joists. In the modification referred to above, the metal sheets 10 are inverted relatively to the position shown in Fig. 3 so that the ends of the corrugations 9 fit within the gaps 5.
