[ Class 20 (iv) 1, In the construction of walls, floors &c. by means of precast slabs of concrete or other material secured to spaced posts or beams which are provided with longitudinal grooves to receive the correspondingly-shaped edges of the slabs, the width of the slabs is slightly less than the distance between adjacent posts or beams so that they may be moved into position in a direction substantially at right angles to the axis of the posts or beams and secured by key strips. Figs. 1, 2 show double and single-thickness walls in which the concrete slabs 3 engage loosely in grooves in the concrete posts 2 and are secured by key strips 4 which may be wiped over with cement wash if a permanent joint is required. The grooves may be shaped so that the slabs engage tightly at one side, as in Fig. 3, only one key strip being necessary at each edge. Corners may be formed of two posts and a connecting quoin member 9 as in Fig. 7. The grooves may be of curved form as shown in Fig. 9 with correspondingly curved key strips 10. Slabs may be supported by a curved roof beam in a similar manner. A beam for supporting floors is formed at its ends with recesses to suit the construction of the wall on which it is to rest.
