The joints between the edges of the slabs and a bolted cover plate 15 are as described in Specification 538,404; with the protruding ends of the slab reinforcements loosely linked together in the spaces between the slabs. Eyes on the ends of the reinforcement may receive the bolt 17 which secures the cover plate to the beam or the reinforcements may be loosely hooked together at the ends. The beam may be formed of two channel sections arranged back to back with a space between to receive the bolts 17.
