Abstract
1431088 Joining preformed elements J A WEY 29 March 1973 [6 April 1972] 15032/73 Heading E1W Preformed spanning building elements e.g. concrete floor slabs are interconnected by dowel means or wedges 11, 12 which bear on the edges of vertical plates 9, 10 which project from the adjacent edge faces of adjacent elements 1, 2 at least one wedge being in each the tensile zone and compression zone of the elements. A plurality of plates are fixed to a backing flange 5, 6 anchored in the concrete by reinforcement 8 and the plates may be shaped to transmit shear forces or to transmit tensile and compressive forces. In a further alternative, wedges are used to transmit tensile forces and a cast concrete fillet to transmit compressive forces.
