Abstract

1436849 Structural joints PENTA-OCEAN CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 9 May 1973 [26 July 1972] 22033/73 Heading E1W Precast, reinforced or prestressed concrete structural members 1, 2 are connected together by placing them in spaced relationship, casting mortar therebetween, passing tensioning means 3 through holes in the members extending perpendicular to the jointing faces of the members, and then tensioning said means, which are anchored to the members being jointed. The members may, eg. be beams and columns or slabs and columns. The mortar is [preferably a 10:10:3 (by weight) mixture of cement, sand and water, and the cement may be a high-early-strength variety: an expanding additive may be included. The joint spacing is preferably between 2 and 5 cms.
