Abstract

1,086,942. Building frameworks. KINS DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. March 19, 1964 [Dec. 19, 1962], No. 48047/62. Heading E1W. Pre-cast, reinforced or prestressed concrete portal frames, comprise columns and beams dowelled together and to the foundations, with quick-setting grout, e.g. a polyester resin grout, used in the joints. The dowel pins and bores 34 and 40 Fig. 11 have deformed surfaces, and grout is injected through openings 33, forming a bond in gaps formed between the beams and columns by nubs 35 on the columns. Floor slabs 44 Fig. 9 are bolted to the beams 27. the joint being filled in with concrete, and slabto-slab joints contain overlapping exposed reinforcement, in upper rebates (Fig. 10 not shown), with additional top mesh reinforcement 51, and lower sealing strops 52. Loadbearing walls are formed from inner and outer precast concrete panels 54 and 53 respectively, Figs. 12-15 bolted together to form vertical cavities 65 and 66, and horizontal recesses 60 at floor level, all of which are filled with concrete. Keying recesses 73 Fig. 12 are provided in the columns, and the beams 27 have vertical channels to receive the reinforcement for the vertical cavities, Fig 14. The individual portal frames are aligned by jigs from adjacent erected frames, rather than by conventional methods.
