Abstract

1424238 Multi-storey buildings; concrete joints E D KELBISH 20 Feb 1973 8344/73 Headings E1A and E1W In a multi-storey building, Fig. 1, erected from prefabricated room units A, contiguous room units of the same storey are laterally offset relative to one another and superimposed room units only partially overlap one another to which latter end they are each provided with a depressed roof portion 14, in the area of the partial overlap, in depth to the thickness of the floor slab. The building is completed by preformed slabs 11, 12, 13 and each room unit is provided with built in utilities such as lifts, stairs, cupboards, baths &c. The unit may be made of re-inforced concrete or consist of cladding panels fixed to a suitable framework, see Fig. 15, (not shown). Each unit incorporates columns which may be post-tensioned for details of which to-gether with details of room layouts, service facilities, &c the Specification and remaining drawings, (not shown), should be referred to. Four corner units may be interconnected with a steel bearing plate 39 Fig. 13, having aligned prongs 40 surrounded by preformed sleeves 41 arranged as shown, the plate 39 being disposed between neoprene pads 42 and a grout filler poured into the joint through grout holes (not shown).
