Abstract
A METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION OF MULTI-STOREY BUILDINGS USING PRECAST FACADE PANELS (1) AND PRECAST FLOOR PANELS (3) TO ELIMINATE ALL EXTERNAL JOINTS BETWEEN THE FACADE AND THE SUPERSTRUCTURE. THE FACADE (1) IS INSTALLED ON THE SUPERSTRUCURE BEFORE THE STRUCTURAL CROSS WALLS (2) ARE CAST. STRUCTURAL CROSS WALLS (2) ARE CAST TO EMBED THE EDGES OF THE FACADE INTO THE CROSS WALLS CREATING A WATERTIGHT CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION JOINT. THE FACADE (1) IS SUPPORTED AND HELD IN PLACE BY THE CROSS WALLS (2). BRACKETS (4, 5) ARE PROVIDED ON THE SIDES OF THE FACADE WHICH INTERCONNECT WITH CORRESPONDING BRACKETS IN THE FACADE UNIT ABOVE. THE INTERCONNECTED BRACKETS (6) ARE EMBEDDED INTO THE CROSS WALLS (2). REINFORCED PRECAST FLOOR SLABS (3) ARE THEN LAID ON TOP OF THE CROSS WALLS (2). THE FLOOR SLABS (3) ACT AS FORMWORK THEREBY MINIMIZING NEED FOR SUPPORTING FRAMEWORK WITHIN THE UNIT. REINFORCED CONCRETE IS THEN LAID ON TOP OF THE PRECAST FLOOR SLABS (3) TO CAST THE FLOOR (9) OF THE UNIT ABOVE.FIG.
