Abstract
545,665. Roofs. MITCHELL, F. G. Dec. 5, 1940, Nos. 17349/40 and 6747/41. [Class 20 (iv)] Wires 10 parallel to each other and anchored at their ends support a roof-covering of interlocking slabs, or one cast in situ or of light material, either flexible or rigid, in sheet form. Slab joints are staggered, and underside grooves facilitate positioning on the wires. The sheet material may be corrugated iron combined with a layer of fire-proof heatinsulating material such as slag-wool, and precast concrete slabs may be superposed on these. The sag of the wires may be utilized for drainage by forming a gutter, Fig. 7, at the lowest portion. Wires, instead of being secured directly to side-wall members may be anchored to a bow-shaped girder comprising bracing elements and a compression bar forming a chord extending along the top of the wall. Specification 240,705, [Class 20 (iv)], is referred to.
