Abstract

1,055,859. Wall cladding. F. ROSS. Sept. 1, 1965. No. 37263/65. Heading E1R. Cladding for a building comprises prefabricated reinforced concrete slabs 1 with integral upper inwardly projecting, edge ribs 3 supported on metal beams 4 of the building frameworks. The ribs 3 have elongated slots 6 therein, which are located over dowels 5 welded to the beams 4. The slabs 1 have vertical edge grooves 9, (Fig. 3, not shown) in which glass fibre backing strips 10 are located between adjacent slabs, the strips being held in position by internal matic jointing forcing the strips against the outer faces of the grooves. Vertically adjacent slabs are located by loops, 16, integral with the slab reinforcement, projecting from the upper edges of the slabs into recesses 17 formed in the lower edges, the loops 16 also serving as slab hoisting points. A resilient sealing strip 15, (Fig. 2, not shown) is shule to the upper edge of each slab and to the lower edge of the slab above, and the upper and lower edges have downwardly sloping outer margins to assist drainage.
