Abstract

1,012,278. Reinforced-concrete structures. L. H. ROTHWELL and D. CUNVIN, Feb. 26, 1964 [Feb. 21, 1963], No. 7136/63. Heading E1V. A method of building a reinforced concrete building structure comprises erecting preprepared hollow columns 1 on bases 2, inserting reinforcement 3 into them, arranging precast concrete flat beams 4 having holes so that concrete may flow through into the columns 1, between the columns 1 and supporting them on temporary props, bridging the beams 4 with units of floor reinforcement 8 and hollow tiles or blocks 9, and pouring concrete into the columns 1 through the said holes and thereafter or simultaneously therewith over the whole of the floor area to make a monolithic structure. The beams 4 have the reinforcement 5 incorporated therein during their precasting. Edge beams 6 have an upstand 7 to contain the poured concrete. The columns 1 may be of concrete or strengthened cardboard.
