Abstract

Corner and intermediate columns and horizontal beams spanning between these columns form the skeleton for the walls and floor. The columns and beams are hollow and are interconnected, one with another, so that when the concrete is poured into horizontal beams, it flows into vertical columns as well. Thus, when the concrete has set, the framework is monolithic. Prior to pouring concrete, prefabricated wall elements can be put in place, as well as any reinforcement bars. One whole storey is therefore formed in one operation, involving only one set of formwork and one concrete pour. This saves duplication and time wasted stripping and removing each lift of formwork and is therefore quicker and easier than the conventional method.
