Abstract

1,205,497. Moulding concrete building units. STRESSED STRUCTURES Inc. 23 Jan., 1968, No. 3388/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division E1] In a method of producing a monolithic, threedimensional concrete structure having at least two adjoining slabs forming an edge or corner junction 1 through which extends a reinforcement network 6, Fig. 17, the mould cavity is defined by internal and external forms 35 and 23 respectively, Figs. 8 and 9, and the reinforcement network is located in the cavity which is then filled with a concrete which is allowed to expand and set to develop an initial bond with the reinforcing network. A relative movement takes place between the structure and at least a part of the forms before further expansion and complete setting is effected, this movement may be a partial collapsing of the forms. The forms 23, 35 are backed by stiffening ribs 25 and girders 26. The forms 23 are joined at the corners by locking means 27, 28. The tops of the form 23 are secured to the base support 34, Fig. 8, by flanges 32. The internal form 35 comprises four side forms 36 the comer parts 37 of which define a slot for a channel-shaped form 38, Fig. 9, movable by a fluid motor 39 to an extent determined by stops 46. A ceiling form 47 and bridging beams 30 are provided. Corner fillets have reinforcing bars 12, Fig. 6, to which the gridwork 6 is bonded. The eave girders 13, Fig. 16, formed by extensions of the roof-ceiling slab are each provided with reinforcing bars 14. The windows and door openings are formed by metal frames attached to the gridwork. The gridwork of the floors of adjacent rooms are interconnected as shown in Fig. 5. Electricity and water conduits are located in the mould cavity prior to casting. The building units may be stacked to form a multistorage structure. If a single storage structure is desired the ceiling form can be used as a floor form by raising the wall and ceiling unit to the appropriate extent after casting. The ceiling may have a layer of insulation e.g. of rigid foamed plastics protected by a coating e.g. of plaster coating.
