Abstract

A complete system of panels engaging each other by edge complementary profiles, have panel bodies, made of a non-load bearing expanded plastic, which incorporate intersecting longitudinal and lateral passages filled with cast concrete to create an integral internal load bearing framework. Metal reinforcing rods or tie bars may also extend through the internal passages. Panels may be moulded by casting the foam generating matl. into a mould with inserts or tubes for defining the concrete pattern and opt. lined with other matls., viz metal or plastic sheet to provide sandwich covers for the foam core. System involves units for roof, ceilings, etc, as well as walls. Some internal passages may be left unloaded to accept wiring, plumbing circuits, etc. Esp. suitable for prefabrication of portable or semi permanent buildings or caravan bodies, containers, vehicle bodies, or for permanent cladding for building cast concrete structures. Erection/assembly on site does not require an ancillary supporting framework. Structure has good resistance to fatigue and to multiaxial stress loadings applied to mobile structures. System generally avoids direct bridges of acoustic or thermal conductors between the opposite faces of the panels.
