Abstract
1,257,705. Erecting multi-storey buildings. N.I.S.I. 21 Jan., 1969 [25 Jan., 1968], No. 3390/69. Heading E1S. A multi-storey building is erected by the liftslab method by lifting a stack of slabs using temporary supports, e.g. 5 (Fig. 4) and inserting columns 10 between the temporary supports and attaching the lowermost slab thereto. The slabs are of concrete and are cast on the foundations with connectors 3 (Fig. 1) embedded therein, and holes are formed adjacent the connectors in each slab by tubes 2b which can be moved up stanchions 2a to be used for the other slabs. Rods 2c form holes in the slabs between the holes formed by tubes 2b, The stanchions 2a rest in collars 2 embedded in the foundations. The connectors 3 of adjacent slabs are threaded together before the slabs are raised using the supports 5 which sit in the collars 2, hoists 6 being supported on supports 5 for this purpose. The holes formed by rods 2c allow dowelled connections between vertically adjacent columns 10, which columns, when positioned, support the temporary supports 5 via beams 12.
