Abstract

956,134. Erecting buildings. RICHARD COSTAIN Ltd. Aug. 8, 1960 [May 8, 1959], No. 15903. Heading E1A. In the erection of a multi-storey building a foundation base a is constructed below ground level over a grid of piles and connected by vertical walls to a ground floor slab c which serves as a casting bed for all the other floors. Each floor h together with a staircase section j is raised by jacks on the base a and retained in position by T-shaped blocks inserted at the bottom and left in position to form a central core structure e within which are the staircase and lift-shaft m. The outer periphery of the floors is supported by wires v anchored to the roof slab d which includes radial upstand walls d<SP>2</SP>. The wires r are supplied from coils in a trench b. Framework f is provided for the staircase. The floor slab c is provided with holes to which air can be supplied to free a sheet of polythene on which subsequent floors h are cast. In a modification, the core structure e is of metal or cast concrete.
