Abstract

892,438. Erecting multi-storey buildings. INTERNATIONAL LIFT SLAB CORPORATION. April 19, 1960, No. 13748/60. Class 20(1) In a multi-storey building erected by the "lift slab" method wherein roof and floor slabs are successively raised along vertical columns, collars 10 are embedded in each slab 16 so as to surround each column 26, and the slab is secured at the required level by driving wedges 34 between the lower face of each collar 10 and the upper inclined faces 38 of abutments 28 on the sides of the column. The upper edge 40 of each wedge may be V-shaped and engage in a complementary groove 42 in the collar, or alternatively it may be retained in position by a flange depending from the collar outwardly of the wedge. To prevent lateral movement, recesses in the inner face of the collar in alignment with the abutments 28 receive co-acting wedges 44, 46 or are filled with grout. On two opposite faces the collar has outward projections comprising vertical tubes 22 having keyhole slots 24 at their upper ends for receiving lifting rods. Specification 744,462 is referred to.
