Abstract

1,062,822. Building slabs. C. V. BLUMFIELD and E. D. J. MATHEWS. April 5, 1965 [April 6, 1964], No. 14032/64. Heading E1B. A storey-high concrete wall slab has its edges enclosed in a welded metal strip frame comprising uprights 10, 12 which are bevelled as shown and horizontals (11), (13), Figs. 1, 3 (not shown), which may or may not be similarly bevelled, and is reinforced internally by one or more vertical tubes 23, 24 welded to horizontal rods 26, 27, the ends of the rods and tubes being welded to the frame. The internal reinforcement may be arranged to define door and window openings, Fig. 5 (not shown). Lifting lugs, and plates for fixing to building columns as described in Specification 1,062,823 are welded to opposite ends of the upper strip (11). The reinforced frames may be prefabricated and the slabs cast flat on site, lying one on top of the other with interposed plastics sheeting.
