[Class 135] [Also in Group XXVIII] Fuel-injection apparatus for internal-combustion engines comprises an injection pump 1 having a feed pump 2 arranged at one end and a speed governor 3 at the other end. The pump 2, comprising gears 5 and 6, delivers the fuel through a duct 7 to a fuel supply chamber 33 of the injection pump and through a further duct 54 to one side of a piston 43 of the governor 3 for actuating the control rack 38 of the injection pump to regulate the fuel delivery. The pressure in chamber 33 is maintained constant by a regulating valve 10 which passes the remaining portion of the feed pump delivery at a pressure which varies with the speed of the pump to a passage 13 which is in communication with a byepass chamber 35 of the injection pump and which has an adjustable throttle return 14 to the feed pump. This variable pressure acts through a duct 56 on a piston 41 of a control valve 48 which regulates the pressure on the side 45 of the piston 43 which has a restricted communicating passage 49 between its two sides. This piston 43 therefore follows the movement of the control piston 41 to effect adjustment of the fuel delivery of the injection pump to govern the speed. The pressure in the passage 13 also acts upon a piston 21 of an injection timing device through a duct 17 to vary automatically the time of injection according to changes of speed.
