,1,168,023. Fuel injection pumps; regulating I.C. engines; hydraulic intensifiers. SOC. DES PROCEDES MODERNES D'INJECTION SOPROMI. Feb. 19, 1968 [Feb. 22, 1967], No. 8013/68. Headings F1A, FIB and F1P. A fuel injection pump comprises a fluidpressure actuated piston 7, in contact with an injection piston 5. The quantity of fuel supplied to the cylinder 6 is regulated by an electrically actuated valve 3 which is controlled by an electronic device 12 in accordance with an engine condition. As shown the cylinder of the actuating piston 7 is connected in the required sequence to the feed pump 2 and the supply tank 1 by a valve 10 driven by the engine. The cylinder may alternatively be directly connected to the engine cylinder. For multi-cylinder engines a plurality of units may be employed or single units 10, 3, 6 may be used in conjunction with distributors. The intermediate chamber 15 is connected to the tank 1 and also forms a hydraulic stop for the piston 7.
