Abstract
1,255,144. Spray carburetters. SIMMS GROUP RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT Ltd. May 23, 1969 [Feb. 26, 1968], No. 9144/68. Heading F1B. Petrol is directed on to an ultrasonic atomizer 13 from a nozzle 16 spaced from the atomizer and supplied with petrol at substantially constant pressure. Petrol drawn by a pump 20 through a check-valve 19 from a tank 18 is delivered to the nozzle 16 through a control valve 21 and a pressure reducing and check-valve 17 which provides the substantially constant pressure. The valve 21 is operable through a linkage 22 and 23 by a frustoconical cam 24 movable axially by an accelerator pedal linkage 28 and angularly by a centrifugal governor 25. The valve 21 may be operated manually for starting and excess fuel may be supplied through a solenoid operated valve 37 directly to the manifold 12. The cam 24 may be moved axially in response to the vacuum in the manifold 12. Separate ultrasonic atomizers, connected in parallel with a single power source, may be provided for each of the cylinders of an engine.
