In a fuel injection pump system in which the injection pump is supplied by a feed pump, the output pressure of which is variable with engine speed through a variable throttle 7 and in which the injection timing is automatically varied in accordance with feed pump pressure, a variable throttle 9 is disposed between the suction chamber 4, between the throttle 7 and the injection pump inlet, and a return 46 to the tank 35.
