Abstract
1,191,107. Regulating I.C. engines. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Oct.5, 1967 [Oct.29, 1966], No.45344/67. Heading F1B. [Also in Division G1] Fuel is injected into the intake manifold 12 by solenoid actuated valves 13 fed by a pump 16 and the fuel pressure is controlled by a regulator 19 to a value exceeding the intake manifold pressure by a predetermined amount. The regulator 19 may comprise two chambers (51, 52) separated by a spring-biased diaphragm (53) with a cone (54) which controls the flow of fuel, fed to one of the chambers (52), through a return pipe 55 to the fuel tank 18. The other chamber (51) is connected to the intake manifold 12. The period of opening of the injection valves is controlled by a monostable multi-vibrator 25. The period is dependent upon the position of the movable core 39 of a transformer which couples the collector of the output transistor T 2 to the base of the input transistor T 1 . The position of the transformer core 39 is controlled by the pressure in the inlet manifold 12, and each cycle of the multi-vibrator is triggered by the cam 31 rotating with the crank shaft 17 and operating a switch 32 to connect a capacitor 33 to the positive lead 26, the transistor T 1 being rendered non-conductive. The pump 16 is driven by the crank-shaft 17 or an electric motor.
