Abstract
1,042,259. Fuel injection pumps. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Dec. 17, 1963 [Dec. 19, 1962], No. 49874/63. Heading F1A. A fuel injection pump is driven from a shaft 23 and is fed with fuel from a supply pump 34 at a pressure which is a function of the engine speed. The supply pump output pressure acts on a piston 31 which in turn acts on a follower 27 and nut 26. The axial displacement of the nut 26 varies the timing of the start of injection by varying the phase relationship between the camshaft 21 and drive shaft 23. A spill passage 37 leads to the suction side of the supply pump 34 and by-passes the output thereof via pipes 40, 45 which incorporate a control slide 42.
