Abstract
491,512. Regulating. DRAYTON, T. J. B. March 3, 1937, No. 6325. [Class 7 (vi)] A fuel-injection controlling member is adjusted in accordance with the suction in the air-inlet pipe, and this suction is modified in accordance with the pressure of the exhaust gases. The invention is particularly adapted to the fuel-injection system described in Specification 455,032. The suction in the airinlet pipe acts at the right-hand side of a diaphragm 14, Fig. 1, in opposition to a spring 15, the diaphragm acting through levers 18, 10, rod 9, and lever 2 on a spindle 1 controlling the area of the leak-off orifice of the fuel-injection apparatus described in the above-mentioned Specification. The suction in the air-inlet pipe is varied by adjustment of the throttle valve 21, Fig. 2, therein, the spindle of the throttle valve being provided with a pinion 24 engaging a rack 23 connected to a piston in a cylinder 25 acted on by the exhaust gases in opposition to an adjustable spring. The lever 2 is also controlled from the accelerator pedal through a rod 6 and lever 4<1>, 411 pivoted at 5, the upper part 411 of this lever being adjustable by means of a screw 8 to vary the tension of a spring 3 connecting the lever 41, 411 to the lever 2.
