Abstract
489,363. Power-generating systems. RUTHS ARCA ACCUMULATORS, Ltd., and RITCHIE, E. G. Nov. 23, 1936, No. 32039. [Class 122 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] Steam is supplied to a stand-by steam power plant 15 by an accumulator 1 charged by an auxiliary boiler 2, the accumulator being able to meet emergency demands for a time sufficient to allow the main boilers 5 of the plant to be brought into full operation. Steam from an electrically heated boiler 2 flows into the top of the accumulator and is brought into direct contact with water drawn from the bottom by a pump. The circulation of water is controlled by a valve 11 operated in accordance with the water temperature. Water is supplied to the accumulator to maintain the level therein through a pipe 13. The steam from the accumulator may be at the same pressure as that in the main supply pipe or it may be at a higher pressure and may enter the supply pipe through a reducing valve. Specification 100,693, [Class 122 (iii)], is referred to.
