Abstract
524,903. Steam power plant. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Feb. 10, 1939, No. 4423. Convention date, July 2, 1938. [Class 110 (iii)] In a steam power plant comprising a steam generator 1 of the flow through type, a high pressure steam consumer 5, an intermediate superheater 7 and a low pressure steam consumer 9 in series, the high pressure steam consumer is byepassed by a pipe 13 having a liquid containing chamber 15 adapted to act not only as a water separator and desuperheater but also as a heat accumulator. The level of the water 14 which will dry or desuperheat the steam passing through it and give off steam when the pressure in the supply line 8 falls, is maintained by the pump 26 drawing from the feed tank 12. A valve 16 in the high pressure steam pipe 4 is controlled by a servo motor 17 influenced by the steam pressure and temperature in the pipe 4. The valve 16 opens with an increase and closes with a decrease of pressure in the pipe 4, but if the steam temperature is either too high or too low, the thermostat 22 operates to close the valve entirely. Then the valve 18 in the byepass 13, which is only pressure controlled by the servo motor 19, opens to allow the steam to pass through the chamber 15 to the low pressure steam consumer 9. Other low pressure steam consumers can be placed in parallel with the consumer 9.
