Abstract

1,005,916. Feedwater supply systems for steam boilers. BASTIAN & ALLEN Ltd. Jan. 12, 1962 [Jan. 12, 1961], No. 1384/61. Heading F4A. [Also in Division H5] A steam boiler apparatus incorporating an electrode steam boiler, of which the boiler load or pressure of the delivered steam is controlled by adjustment of the water level, includes a closed container the top of which is connected to a point in the boiler which is always submerged, and the bottom of which has an aperture through which water is pumped into or withdrawn from the container. The bottom of electrode boiler 10 is connected to feed tank 13 via lagged container 18, the pipe 15 with continuously operated pump 14 and non-return valves 16 and 17, and pipe 19 incorporating a solenoid operated valve. The latter is energized through a load control relay 23 which is closed during normal operation, and a pressure control switch 22. Modified forms of container are: a vertically disposed coiled pipe; and a lower part of the boiler shell separated from the steam generating part by an apertured horizontal baffle.
