Abstract
1,029,553. Feedwater supply systems for steam boilers. E. G. RITCHIE. Jan. 21, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No. 12341/62. Heading F4A. All the boilers of a battery of thermal storage boilers operating at a pressure higher than that at which steam is supplied to the consumer are supplied through a single separate direct or indirect feed water heater or heat exchanger C which is in direct communication with the main steam header. The heater C is fed by a pump H from the hot well E through an overflow valve D. The latter may be controlled as shown by the pressure in the steam main so that when the latter pressure rises beyond a predetermined value the valve D opens. Alternatively, the steam supply to the heater may be controlled by a steam overflow valve (not shown) in which case the valve D is under the control of the steam pressure in the heater C. The valve D is also subject to an overriding control by the level in the heater C. Feedwater is supplied from the heater C to the boilers by a pump F through a regulator G which opens when the level in the heater C exceeds a predetermined value. The heater C has means J for discharging dissolved gases as described in Specification 551,089 and each boiler has high and low level controls A, B respectively.
