[Class 44] In fastenings for attachÚ cases &c., in which a member on one part, such as the lid, enters a casing on the other part and is retained therein by a pivoted catch or catches releasing means are pro vided which release the catch or catches and posi tively initiate the dis engagement of the fasten ing member. Fig. 2 shows a form in which a plate a<2> attached to the lid has a tongue with upstand ing rib a<3> adapted to enter the open end of a casing c on the body of the attachÚ case &c. The casing houses a sliding plate f carrying pivoted catches y, h, which, when raised clear of the opening in the casing, are biassed to the release positions by springs i. The slide f can be operated by a member e with finger piece e<2> rotatably mounted on a fixed stud and having a pin c<3> engaging a slot f<5> in slide f. A spring j<4> bears against pin e<3> and serves to complete the movement of the slide to each of its extreme positions by passage of the pin over a deadcentre position. When the part a<3> is inserted in the casing it engages a transverse flange f4 on the slide to move the latter inwards, spring j<4> completing the movement. As the catches g, h enter the casing the walls of the casing move the catches into engagement with rib a<3>. When member e is operated to raise the slide and effect release, flange f<4> positively ejects member a<2>. A cam may be used instead of springs i to move the catches outwards. A single catch pivoted to move transversely to the plane of the plate a<2> may be used.
