Abstract
435,378. Sliding door fastenings. KAYE & SONS, Ltd., J., and AMBLER, A., Lock Works, Hunslet, Leeds. July 11, 1935, No. 19802. [Class 44] In a fastening for sliding doors such as are used in railway corridors &c., the pivoted hook member B has a bifurcated tail-piece the parts B<1>, B<2> of which are disposed on opposite sides of the space D in which slides the drop window, not shown, and are pivoted individually on aligned pins P. The catch is releasable by independent inside and outside handles H, each operating a follower H<1> engaging the corresponding part B<1> or B<2>. The hook B is biassed to engaging position by a spring B<3> and is adapted to engage a projection S' on an apertured striking-plate S, the projection entering a recess B' provided in the hook casing to avoid excessive projection of the hook from the edge of the door. The handles are biassed to the vertical position by springs H<2>.
