Abstract

422,682. Service hatches. JORDAN, F., 35, Chestnut Road, Northampton. June 13, 1934, No. 17532. [Class 20 (iii)] One or more doors on one side of a service hatch are locked automati - cally on closing by a pivoted latch 6, and catch 9<a>, the latch being released by the opening and closing of the opposite door 5 by a stud 11 on the pivoted links 10, and a flanged pivoted trip 7 having a projection 7b, which raises the latch as the door closes. The door 3 is hinged at the upper edge and on opening releases the trip 7 by withdrawing the link and stud 11 allowing the catch 6 to fall into operative position. Limiting stops 12, 21, may be provided for the catch. A fastening 13 and a handle 16 may be provided on the doors. The catch may be controlled by a spring. The invention may be applied to sliding or hinged doors.
