Abstract

214,486. Broadhead, R. W., and Dempster & Sons, Ltd., R. June 1, 1923. Retort and like doors of the kind pivotally connected to a hinged crossbar C which engages with a hinged catch D, an eccentric E completing the closure, have means whereby the catch is engaged automatically in closing and is disengaged by the initial opening movement. The crossbar engages the catch by striking the part d which overlaps the door B in the closed position and movement of the eccentric lever E<1> forces the bar against the pin d<1>. A recess c' on the bar prevents the forcing off of the catch.
