Hinges readily separable about hinge pin; spring hinges. -The socket member is formed with a. side guide - way slot 10 through which a flattened part 20 of the pivot may be passed until it registers with the cylindrical socket members 7, ar.d when the pin is then dropped slightly and rotated the part 20 engages beneath the socket member and secures the parts in the assembled position. In Figs. 3 and 12 the device is shown as applied as part! of a concealed hinge. The socket members 7 are carried by arms integral with a, plate 5 having an opening 9 through which the pivot pin may be inserted and guided by the slots 10 into engagement with the sockets. The pivot is carried by a bent arm 8 secured to the door B. In addition to its flattened parts 20, 21 the pivot pin has cylindrical parts 13, 13<a> which engage in the socket members 7 in the working position of the hinge. The part 19 then rests on the lower socket of the hinge and the flattened member 20 is adapted to engage the under part of upper socket to prevent the door being lifted until the parts 10, 20, 21 are in register. Various modified constructions are described, such as by forming the hinge pins as a depending member from the arm 8, or as applied to a butt hinge. In Fig. 27, it is shown as applied to a spring hinge. By lifting the member 18 when the part 22 of the pivot registers with the guide slot 10, the end of the closing spring 27 is detached from a securing lug 29 on the other flap 4.
