Abstract

200,227. Garrett, W. L., and Bristol Aeroplane Co., Ltd. April 12, 1922. Catches.-Doors for motor omnibuses and other purposes are resiliently mounted so as to be capable of movement' in the plane of the door and in a direction at right angles to the axis of the hinge pin, so that an abutment carried 'by the door may engage with a fixed inclined surface in the path of its movement and be forced into engagement with a recess to hold the door an a closed or an open position. The door is resiliently mounted by springs 21, 27 on either side of an abutment 23 of a bolt 14 forming the movable part of the hinge. This arrangement allows the door to move to and from the hinge pin 15 when forced to do so. On the upper or lower edge of the door is a shoe 33 with a projection 34. As the door is moved into the closed position, the projection 34 engages with a door holding or fastening device 31, first contacting with the inclined surface. 310 and then being forced by the spring 24 into a retaining slot 311.
