Abstract
394,833. Door &c. fastenings. FLYNN, L. J., 82, Donnybrook Road, Streatham, London. Aug. 22, 1932, No. 23439. [Class 44.] In a door or gate fastening, a fixed abutment 9 on the gate engages with a slot 10 in a partially rotatable disc or other member 7 mounted on a plate 5 on the gatepost, and in the closing of the gate the abutment 9 moves the disc 7 past a dead centre position so as to hold the gate closed. The disc 7 may be counterweighted so as to bring it to the position shown when the gate is open and its movement may be limited by a pin 15 engaging in a slot 16. The disc 7 may be provided with a slot 12 which when aligned with a slot 13 in the plate 5 receives a pivoted latch 14 which may be gravity or spring- actuated. This latch may be arranged to enter the same slot as the fixed abutment. The disc may be provided with a peripheral flange to contact with the mounting plate and the recess thus formed may be packed with grease. Means may be provided to lock the fastening.
