[Class 44] In fastenings for double doors of wardrobes, cupboards, &c. in which closure of the second closed door effects fastening of the first closed door a spring-pressed slidably mounted catch bolt with beveled or rounded end engaged by a catch member on the second door is pressed into locking engagement with a recess or opening in a catch member on the second door, and yielding spring-catch means are provided to hold the first door closed prior to closing the second door, which may itself be held closed by a yielding catch. As shown, projecting catch members 7, 8 on the doors 1, 2 are adapted to project into recesses 5, 6 in a fixed casing 12 housing spring-pressed sliding catches 14, 16 and a spring-pressed locking bolt 10. When door 1 is closed a recess or aperture in member 7 is engaged by catch 14 to hold the door yieldingly closed. Whilst door 2 is open, the nose of bolt 10 projects into recess 6 and its tail is clear of recess 5. Closure of door 2 causes member 8 to press back bolt 10 so that its tail projects into recess 5 into engagement with an aperture in member 7 to secure door 1 in closed position. At the same time the catch 16 engages in member 8 to retain door 2 yieldingly closed. Modifications are described in which the catch members 14, 16 are mounted in and project outwardly from the casing or part of the casing in which the bolt 10 is mounted, one form using coiled springs as in Fig. 2, the other using metal strip or plate springs. In another modification, the catch 16 is omitted and the nose of bolt 10 is adapted to engage an aperture in member 8, so as to act as a catch for door 2 in addition to securing door 1. In another form, both catches 14, 16 are omitted, and a single bolt, normally held in a central position by opposed springs, has both ends projecting into recesses 5, 6 and adapted to act as a yielding catch for both doors, engagement with member 8 preventing disengagement from member 7. In a further form, catches 14, 16 are mounted in the members 7, 8 and engage behind a small casing in which bolt 10 is mounted. Fig. 17 shows a form in which one catch 56 is pivotally mounted and the bolt 57 is connected thereto at 60 by pivot or pin-and-slot connection. Fig. 18 shows the casing provided with projections 63 from which the catches project, the parts 63 entering recesses in the doors.
