Abstract

437,680. Automatic catches. BARNES, G. A., 416, Holderness Road, Hull. May 30, 1934, No. 16075. [Class 44] A door latch yielding in both directions but offering more resistance to the opening of the door than to closing comprises a hollow member 14 which slides inwards against a light spring 16 as the door closes, a hinged end 18 on the member 14 tilting against the resistance of a plate spring 23 as the door opens. The hinged end 18 has a bevelled nose 19 and is slotted at 21 to engage a pin 20 on the hollow member. The spring 23, which is riveted inside the hollow member engages a lip 22 on the end 18. The hollow member 14 and spring 23 are slotted to slide over a pin 13 extending through a casing 12.
