Abstract

463,352. Hose couplings. COWLES, I. March 30, 1936, No. 9338. [Class 99 (i)] A screw-threaded end coupling 1 for a hose 4 comprising a rubber wall 5 and a flexible metal lining 6 is provided with a cylindrical extension or sleeve 3 which receives the end of the hose and is contracted to grip the same and compress the rubber wall 5 thereof against a shoulder 10 within the coupling. The hose end is strengthened by an inserted ferrule 7 having a flange 8 which is initially curved but is flattened into a recess 9 in the shoulder 10 upon contraction of the sleeve 3.
