Abstract

252,297. Clark, G. M., (United Metal' Hose Co., Inc.). Oct. 28, 1925. Joints with longitudinal pressure and with yielding outer part compressed.-A flexible hose or pipe 12 is attached to a coupling nut 2 bv means of a sleeve 1, having an unthreaded portion 5, and coiled gripping means, such as a coil spring 11, which is adapted to be pressed against the hose when the members 1 and 2 are screwed together. The member 2 may be provided with a shoulder 9 and packing 10 against which the end of the hose abuts, while the unthreaded portion 5 of the sleeve 1 is preferably tapered internally. The coils of the spring 11 extend in the same direction as the threads of the sleeve 1. When an ordinary rubber hose is being used, the end thereof is strengthened by an internal' thimble of metal.
