Abstract

469,525. Hose couplings. CELLOTUB, and ROUX, P. A. M. Sept. 30, 1936, No. 26564. [Class 99 (i)] The end of a hose pipe is secured to a coupling member A provided with a tapered spigot 1 by a deformable sleeve B which compresses the hose around the spigot when it is contracted by an internally-tapered external ring C upon screwthreaded engagement of the latter and the coupling member. The sleeve is tapered externally to correspond with the ring C and is cylindrical internally, and its inner or thicker end is rounded - off to compress the extreme end of the hose upon a rounded base portion 2 of the spigot 1. The sleeve is also internally grooved when used with a hose having an external helical reinforcing wire, and preferably the engaging threads 3, 7 of the coupling A and ring C are of opposite hand to that of such a wire. A washer may be interposed between the hose and the rounded inner end of the sleeve B.
